Dreams of Retirement

Dreams of retirement never elude us, we think of it constantly. We want to take grandchildren fishing, to the park, build a leaf house, swing them on a rope swing, hugs, wipe tears, teach them about our earth and how wonderful God has made it for us; take them to pick berries, help us put up peaches, make jelly, going to the lake, see the fireworks on the fourth of July; and doing it all without getting up before the crack of dawn the next day. Oh, Retirement; Where Art Thou!!

Greatness of a person is not measured by riches
Real importance lies in what the heart truly wishes
Accomplishing big things without love is useless
Continuous blessings when wasted become pointless
Enhancing one's wealth is not our sole dream I guess.

Boldness of character is not a guarantee
Right thing is made if applied wisely to see
A better future that secures good retirement
True happiness is not living in too much luxuries
Overwhelming zest is the freedom from worries.

Resources that we share for sake of charity
will be marked as gesture of good quality
that is required of those who are Godly.

Retirement

We have both worked hard and long and are ready to kick back and do nothing. Are we kidding? You bet. I don't think either of us will be able to do nothing.

I have worked for over 49 years now and I relish the thought of not getting up at 4:00 a.m. to drive 70 miles one way to work. I relish just lazily getting out of bed at 6: a.m., having coffee and breakfast, and watching the day begin. We want to piddle in the yard, fish, go off for a weekend without worrying if we can get back in time to prepare for the next workday.

Now that we have finished our second caribbean cruise, we are planning on a train trip to the great northwest. Our son and daughter live in Washington State and we are planning on making a trip to see them in the summer of 2009.

Things About Us

Many times as we grow older, we think of the past and how we could have changed our lives, or changed the world. We couldn't. Our lives have been handed to us to make the best or the worse of, without anyone to be accountable but us.
We did the best we could to raise a large family, with the knowledge we had at the time. As we have aged, we have seen where we went wrong and relished at the times where we right.
We have done a lot of things right in our lives because we have great children, blessed grandchildren, and now joyous great grandchildren. We are truly thankful for what we have been blessed with and praise our Heavenly Father for those blessings.

Jane Talks About Glen

After a lifetime of abuse at the hands of my mother, the most wonderful man on the planet came into my life, and I didn't have to do anything special to be awarded this treasure.

Glen stepped into my life to be my husband, a father to the children and all without asking any reward. He is by far a gift to me and without him my life would be void.

In times of strife he has always been there to pick up the pieces, encourage me to think only the right way, to comfort me in time of sorrow, to laugh with me over the silliest things you can imagine, to cry with me when our hearts are broken, and to walk with me into the sunset of our lives. Glen has never given me doubt, he has always been very supportive of everything I chose to do, and he has guided our family to walk in the ways of the footsteps of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Glen didn't have the perks of growing up with a lot of "things" that are afforded those with more financial freedom than he had. However, he had parents who taught him that walking in faith affords us all with the "things" that we need to sustain life, even if its sparce. In my opinion, he had more wealth in his faith and belief than a lot of us do with money in our pockets. He has taught me how to be happy. He has shown his family the compassion needed to develop healthy children who have made great parents in their own right.

Glen has the tendency to spoil me to the point the children tease us about it. Afterall he rises at 4:00 a.m. to prepare coffee for me before I head out to work, and has dinner prepared for us by the time I get home. There are many other sweet things he does for me, but there may be many husbands out there who would be in deep trouble if I listed them all. He is indeed, the husband of all husbands when it comes to loving, understanding, tenderness, emotional support, guidance and fun loving.

These two pups are Misty, on the left and Todd on the right. They are our Yorkies that have become our constant shadows. They are more than children to us in that we can't go from one room to another without one or both of them at our heels. Children are more independent than these two are. They eat with us, sleep with us and share our lives to the fullest. They are totally devoted to both of us without any questions ask, or demands made. They are loving little creatures that insist that they give a kiss before we leave and especially when we return. They eagerally await my return from work so that I can just love them for a second, then they are back on the floor playing like toddlers. What a complete joy they are to have around. Our lives would be so dull without them.
